Ceri Shaw, co-founder of the internet social network, AmeriCyrmu, has pledged to run in the 4th of July Sauvie Island Half Flat, a 13-mile half marathon, to fundraise for the West Coast Eisteddfod and Bryn Seion Church. Ceri will be writing daily about his training and his progress on his blog on AmeriCymru and is actively seeking sponsors for the run, by the mile and a flat rate for the entire run.
Ceri is a member of the Welsh Society of Portland and a board member of the Welsh North American Association who emigrated from Cardiff to the United States in 2001. He and his partner, Gaabriel Becket, founded AmeriCymru and attend the Bryn Seion annual Gymanfa with their family. They also run an Oregon non-profit which puts on an annual Welsh arts and culture festival, the West Coast Eisteddfod. Ceri has offered to donate half of the sponsorship money he raises to Bryn Seion.
